RWK Goodman advises on Bristol Steiner School’s successful exit from administration
We were very pleased to be able to support the Board of the Bristol Steiner School during its recent solvent exit from Administration. The return to Board control was achieved following a successful campaign led by the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) which secured donations and loans totalling around £1m from parents and supporters across the world. These funds coupled with a robust restructuring plan developed by the PTFA meant that all creditors were paid in full and so the School did not have to close as originally anticipated at the end of the last academic year. As a result a new term has begun for the 80 or so students and 25 members of staff at the School’s premises in Redland in Bristol where it will continue to offer a holistic education for 3 – 11 year olds based on the principles of Rudolf Steiner.
Our team advising the Board was led by John North (Partner – Corporate) and Bharti Moore (Partner – Corporate). Specialist insolvency advice was provided by Julie Killip (Partner – Insolvency). The Administrators (Leonard Curtis) were advised by Osborne Clarke. Shakespeare Martineau advised the PTFA. The new funders were represented by VWV, Burges Salmon and Henriques Griffiths.
Jonas Neidinger (Trustee) said “RWK Goodman have been instrumental in agreeing and executing a new financing structure and successfully exiting administration. John and Bharti who advised us in the transaction are highly professional, demonstrated high expertise and managed several stakeholders to complete the transaction in a timely manner. In addition, they were always reachable and very pleasant to work this. I can highly recommend their services.“
John North said “RWK Goodman have a long association working with educational and other organisations operating on the principles of Rudolf Steiner. It has been a particular pleasure to work with the Board of Bristol Steiner School on its successful exit from Administration so that the School can continue to offer a child-centred education supporting the intellectual development, emotional well-being and practical and artistic skills of its pupils into the future.”
