Practical and commercial advice to help you navigate tricky legal issues

Our HR & employment law advice service helps free up the management time you spend on dealing with legal issues, and minimises the risk of Employment Tribunal claims.

Providing a personal and friendly service is at the heart of what we do. No call centres, or passing you from person to person for advice; you will be given a dedicated Relationship Manager and adviser, so you always know who to call and have peace of mind knowing that they know you and understand your business.

These are the HR & Employment services you can get with HELP:

  • Employment law & HR advice
  • Staff contracts & handbook
  • Template or bespoke HR documents
  • ‘Stay compliant’ update service
  • Employment law & HR training

By taking advice from a regulated law firm you also have the benefit of legal privilege protection. This means you have the comfort of knowing that legal advice, or communications with us in connection with specific claims against you, cannot be disclosed in legal proceedings. This is a significant advantage compared to taking advice from unregulated advisers, such as HR consultants.

Collaborate - a wealth of information at your fingertips

Our advice service is supported by Collaborate, a secure online portal that houses a suite of employment law templates and serves as a secure and confidential sharing space.

Employment Resource Centre

Our Employment Resource Centre is an online portal which provides you with access to a wealth of employment law tools to help you deal with a variety of day-to-day HR topics including recruitment, disciplinary and grievance procedures, sickness absence, flexible working requests, protected conversations with staff, and maternity, paternity and shared parental leave. The Centre includes:

  • Contracts and policies

A collection of staff contracts and policies for you to use, covering complex areas such as shared parental leave and staff use of social media.

  • Guidance notes

Concise and informative guidance notes to help you handle a variety of situations, such as disciplinary processes, sickness absence and changing employees’ terms and conditions.

  • Template letters

Not sure what you need to include in a letter to your employees when dealing with a grievance? Or how to word an invitation to a performance review meeting? Rest assured we have template letters just a few clicks away.

  • Updates and events

To keep up to date with ever changing employment law requirements, you will have access to practical updates on the latest legal developments and invites to our seminars and HR Hubs.

Security and confidentiality

With our Collaborate service, you will have access to a secure and private portal to store your important HR documents in one place, with easy shared access for designated members of your management team.

You will also have the benefit of a shared space in the portal to confidentially share documents with us for the purposes of obtaining legal advice. This saves time, frees up space in your email inbox and ensures easy access to documents at any time. It also enables the sharing of personal and sensitive employee data in a GDPR compliant way.

HELP – Legal Protection

As a law firm, we are big believers in protection. Protecting your position and supplementing our advice service with legal expenses insurance is a smart move.

With insurance protection*, should your business face an employment claim, we will fight your corner to get the best possible outcome. You will have peace of mind knowing that you can get the legal help you need without having to worry about the cost of legal fees, settlement payments or Tribunal awards. Unlike some insurers, you will be covered, even if your chance of successfully defending a claim is less than 51% or if you haven’t taken advice on the issue that gave rise to the claim**. This ensures you always have the full protection you need.
