RWK Goodman advises on the sale of Lower Green Limited and The Priory Care Home in Chippenham

RWK Goodman have represented the selling shareholders on the sale of Lower Green Limited as part of the owners’ strategic exit from the industry and subsequent retirement. The transaction included the sale of The Priory, a popular care home in Chippenham which is registered for 24 elderly residents.

The Grade II Listed Edwardian property has been owned by Mark and Judith Allworth since 2004. Its facilities have been thoughtfully extended and improved over the years, now featuring 18 ensuite bedrooms and five care apartments. The transaction follows the sale of a separate care home property in Hertfordshire owned by the same company.

The team at RWK Goodman, led by Hazel Phillips and Freya Still (Corporate), and assisted by Gemma Hart (Real Estate), provided guidance and support throughout the process, ensuring a smooth transition for all parties involved.

Mark Allworth, former shareholder of Lower Green Limited and co-owner of The Priory, commented on the sale, stating: “On planning our retirement from the care industry, we were looking to sell two care homes individually. We spoke with three firms personally and selected RWK Goodman based upon their knowledge of the industry and our feeling that we could work with them best. Both sales were completed, not without challenges, so we were pleased and relieved that we had Hazel and Freya on our side. Both did a great job for us, and we would recommend the team to any care home owner, small or large.”

The Priory was acquired by Vishal Chandnani, a first-time buyer. He comments: “The Priory is a lovely care home and property, and I am looking forward to being part of a great team and community.”

Hazel Phillips, Head of the Health and Social Care team at RWK Goodman comments: “It was a privilege to support Mark and Judith Allworth and the other selling shareholders in this significant phase of their professional lives. Our goal at RWK Goodman is always to provide tailored, insightful advice, particularly in complex sectors like health and social care. This sale not only represents a well-deserved retirement for the Allworths, but also marks a new chapter for The Priory under Vishal Chandnani’s ownership.”
