The Team Around the Client Magazine
February 2026 | Edition 18
A note from our Guest Editor
It has been three years since Edition 8 of our Team Around the Client Magazine. In Edition 8 we covered the very real human stories behind the cases we work on for our clients, spotlighted organisations such as the Limbless Association who do so much to support and guide amputees and their families and talked to industry and clinical leaders about innovations in treatments and prosthetics that are changing the lives of those affected by limb loss.
Two years on, and much has changed for the RWK Amputations Team and for our friends, partners, and colleagues. In 2024, RWK Goodman were invited to join the Limbless Association’s Legal Panel in recognition of our expertise in representing individuals who have experienced limb loss. We were also joined by Maud Lepez, a dual qualified Solicitor and French Avocate with expertise in cross jurisdictional amputation claims.
Meanwhile, the inimitable Alex Lewis, founder of the FLOAT Foundation and quadruple amputee, completed the ‘Pig to Pig’ challenge, in which he hand-cycled to, and then rowed from, the Pig in Harlyn Bay all the way to Dover. Not long after Alex completed this (almost unfathomable) challenge, Louise Hart, RWK Goodman Partner and Head of Personal Injury, was appointed as a Trustee of the FLOAT Foundation.
Our colleagues at the London Prosthetics Centre moved to fantastic new premises that are purpose designed to provide holistic, integrated care. After two visits to the Premises in 2025, I can safely say that the London Prosthetics Centre has ‘moved the dial’ on what it means to meet the complex and multi-faceted needs of amputees. It reminds me of our own Team Around the Client approach.
The Limbless Association has gone above and beyond in providing guidance and support to, and representation of, the Limb Loss community. The expansion of the Volunteer Visitor Programme and involvement in top level talks with policy makers in order to advocate for those who have experienced limb loss are just two examples, but there are many more. We were delighted to hear about the Partnership between the Limbless Association and the Motor Accident Solicitors Society (an organisation that we are proud to be a member of). It is often the earliest stages post-injury which are the hardest to navigate for amputees, and I have no doubt that this partnership will open up new avenues, and greater depths, of support.
In addition to attending and contributing to Limbless Association Community Hubs and Lunch & Learn sessions across the country, RWK Goodman have had the privilege to support the Limbless Association in bringing the limb loss community together in the Thames Valley area. We helped to set up and host several Lunch & Learn sessions with guest speakers at our Oxford Premises. More recently, we were delighted to host the inaugural Hollywood Bowl Social event in Oxford. Hopefully the first of many such events.
As always, it is the human stories which matter most. I have been struck by how the community pull together and offer support to one another at Community Hubs and Lunch & Learn sessions. It has been, and continues to be, a privilege to help bring together amputees and experts of all disciplines. With a community as strong as those the Limbless Association are fostering, it is increasingly the case that ‘No Amputee Need Cope Alone’.
