RWK Goodman advises on sale of Defries Weiss to Simmons Gainsford

Top 100 firm RWK Goodman has advised on the sale of a long-standing North London accountancy business to a national practice.
The firm has advised partners Gerry Defries and Warren Weiss on the sale of Defries Weiss, an accounting and business advisory firm set up almost 50 years ago, to Simmons Gainsford.
Simmons Gainsford is a national accountancy practice which forms part of Sumer Group, an organisation which seeks to combine business services for SMEs across UK and Ireland, and is backed by Penta Capital.
As part of the sale, Gerry and Warren will remain with the organisation, continuing to service the Defries Weiss clients as part of Simmons Gainsford.
The RWK Goodman transactional team was led by partner Dominic Prentis and senior associate Catherine Hayes, with support from associate Hector Freyne and trainee Kayleigh Tang, with additional employment law support provided by partner Martin Pratt and solicitor Gemma Moore.
Dickson Minto advised Simmons Gainsford.
Dominic Prentis commented: “We have worked with Defries Weiss on numerous client projects for over fourteen years and we were delighted to be asked to support Gerry and Warren on the disposal of their business they have worked hard to build for almost 50 years. They will continue to look after their clients as part of Simmons Gainsford.”
Gerry Defries commented: “Joining Simmons Gainsford marks an exciting new chapter for Defries Weiss. We have always been committed to delivering high-quality personal service to our clients, and this partnership allows us to enhance that offering with the additional resources and expertise of Simmons Gainsford. We look forward to this new journey together.
“I should add that with Dominic and his team representing us we were in very safe hands always confident that they were supporting us and steering us towards the right choices and would have no hesitation recommending Dominic and his team.”
