RWK Goodman highlights commitment to growing South West family practice with key strategic partner appointment

Posted in Family

RWK Goodman has continued the strong growth of its South West private offering with the appointment of Ashfords’ Head of Family Zoe Porter as a partner in the firm’s Bristol office.

Zoe, who has been the head of Ashfords’ family practice since 2016, brings more than 25 years of experience advising clients across a range of family law matters including dealing with high profile and complex divorces involving foreign assets, trusts, and inherited wealth as well as working with those wishing to protect business assets during relationship breakdowns.

A Resolution accredited specialist for advanced financial remedies and cohabitation as well as a trained collaborative lawyer, Zoe also has extensive experience supporting clients with specific needs in the equine racing and agricultural industries.

A listed lawyer in directories including the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners UK for family and matrimonial work within the South West, Zoe joins RWK Goodman’s leading family practice as the firm continues to build on its strong private division offerings in the South West.

Zoe said: “RWK Goodman has a strong ambition to further develop what it can offer clients across the South West, and that focus combined with the existing quality of the team made it a really appealing opportunity to me.

“I’m excited to work with the wider team to help drive forward that strategic growth even more and continue providing clients with high-quality service and support across the range of family law they have come to expect from RWK Goodman.”

Zoe’s appointment is the latest partner to be appointed into the firm’s growing private division in Bristol, following the appointment of residential property partner Helen Sandrone in 2025, and expands on the firm’s family offerings within the region – which was recognised as Regional Firm of the Year at the 2025 LexisNexis Family Law Awards.

The addition is also the latest boost to the firm’s national family practice, following the acquisition of Oxfordshire law firm HMG Law in January 2026 in a transaction which further strengthened the firm’s offerings within the Thames Valley.

Richard Ellis, head of RWK Goodman’s Family practice, said: “Zoe’s appointment will complement the already exceptional work undertaken by our South West team to support clients with top-class advice, as well as help further develop our leading private offering as part of the firm’s wider strategy of ambitious growth.

“Her embedding into our team represents a significant step forward in realising those wider ambitions within the South West, and I’m thrilled to have her as part of the RWK Goodman team.”
