Redundancies at Twitter and Facebook have been widely reported in the news over recent weeks. As we brace ourselves for the inevitable recession next year, many businesses will be faced with the prospect of having to reorganise their business to ensure their long-term survival, which may include making redundancies.

A poorly planned redundancy exercise can lead to employers failing to comply with the legal requirements relating to consultation and redeployment, as well as risks of discrimination and overall unfairness in relation to selection.
