RWK Goodman helps to colour the world orange

CRPS Colour tthe World Orange Day

Lawyers and support staff from across our offices put on their best orange outfits to show their support for a global awareness campaign organised locally by CRPS UK, the country’s first charity to raise awareness and provide support to people suffering from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

Many also brought in homemade cakes, biscuits and other treats to mark the third annual Colour the World Orange event and help raise funds for CRPS UK.

CRPS UK is one of the causes which we are particularly close to, having helped the support group to become a registered charity as well as providing ongoing support to clients who have acquired the debilitating neurological condition which leaves them in constant and severe pain.

Louise Hart, partner and head of our Personal Injury team in Bath, who is one of very few lawyers to specialise in CRPS-related legal claims, said: “This was a great opportunity to unite staff across our network of offices and raise awareness of this little-understood condition. Our orange outfits provided a great talking point and I’m grateful to everyone who got involved.”

CRPS patients Julie Weymouth, Nichola Cunningham and Amanda Nelson, who are all heavily involved with the charity, visited RWK Goodman’s offices in Bath, Swindon and Oxford to judge the firm’s Best Dressed in Orange competition in each location. These entertaining titles were awarded to Paul Daniels, partner and head of commercial property in Bath, Christine Beck, a receptionist in the Swindon office, and Richard Brooks, a partner in the Personal Injury team in Oxford. A special award was presented to Polly Sternbauer, a secretary in the Private Client team, for her homemade giant jaffa cake.

CRPS campaigner, Julie Weymouth, said: “RWK Goodman have been a huge supporter of ours for many years and it was a real pleasure to see so many people entering into the spirit of the day and doing their bit for CRPS.”

CRPS is a severe and debilitating condition often affecting one limb. The pain is intense and continuous and often the limb is swollen and suffers from colour and temperature changes compared with the unaffected limb. The slightest touch, bump or change in environmental temperate can provoke intense pain. CRPS UK is a patient-led support group and registered charity. To find out more, visit crps-uk.org

Corporate Social Responsibility is one of RWK Goodman's core values which the business is built on. Partners and staff throughout the firm are heavily involved in a wide range of charitable and community-led initiatives. The three main beneficiaries of the firm’s fund-raising over the last 18 months are Dorothy House Hospice, Prospect Hospice and Yellow Submarine, as voted for by staff.
