Employment contracts for a specialist veterinary practice

The contract of employment had been carefully drafted by Withy King to protect the practice, and contained restrictions preventing the employee from working for a competing business and from soliciting or dealing with clients of the practice for a 6 month period after leaving.

As the restrictions had been prepared with specific reference to the vet’s practice, Withy King were able to secure an injunction in the High Court, preventing the ex-employee from working for the competing vet’s practice and from dealing with clients of his old employer. This enabled Withy King’s client to protect its business, giving it time to re-establish relationships with clients and prevent them from taking their business elsewhere.
