About Richard:

Richard is a Partner and head of our Construction and Engineering team, based out of our Bristol office.

Richard advises on the lifecycle of a construction project from inception, procurement, contracting, through to troubleshooting, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution. He is a specialist in contract delivery, strategic troubleshooting and dispute resolution of complex construction and engineering projects.

Richard is named as a Leading Partner in the Legal500 directory, which lists the strongest partners in their field acting on market-leading projects.

Richard has worked with public and private bodies and advised across the construction supply chain in numerous sectors, providing him with a unique insight as to the commercial and legal issues affecting the range of construction projects. This enables Richard to deliver succinct, cost-effective, and best for project advice.

He has extensive experience in the design, construction and operation of energy, water, real estate, utilities, transport and other infrastructure projects, and regularly acts for local authorities, funders, consultants, developers and contractors. Richard is also a building safety expert, advising on the interpretation, application and implementation of the Building Safety Act 2022.

Richard is a problem solver and assists clients navigate, mitigate and resolve issues and disputes on their construction projects. Where disputes escalate, Richard has a wealth of experience conducting proceedings in specialist tribunals, primarily in adjudication and arbitration, and manages high court litigation in the Technology and Construction Court.

Experience:

Richard is a national committee member of The Technology and Construction Solicitors Association (TECSA). He sits on the TECSA Adjudication Sub-Committee and also chairs the TECSA_10s sub-committee, a group which promotes the development of construction and technology lawyers under 10 years PQE.

Richard is appointed to the Building Safety Act Working Group, an 8-person working group chaired by Mr Justice Adam Constable KC, comprising members of the Technology and Construction Court, First Tier Tribunal (Property), TECSA and the Technology and Construction Bar Association.
