About Mike

Mike is partner in the Commercial team based out of our Bristol office.

He has extensive experience advising on matters relating to technology, media and telecoms. His clients include online platforms; retailers and consumer brands; creative agencies; businesses involved in the film and TV sector; and video games studios. He also acts for deeptech businesses, university spinouts and fast-growth tech businesses.

He has extensive data protection experience, having led clients through data protection audits, and advised on complex matters relating to the use and exploitation of data.

Mike’s experience includes:

  • Advising a client on the development of an animated interactive film.
  • Acting for the company of a well-known influencer on matters relating to promotions / marketing.
  • Advising a creative agency on negotiating its contracts with global brands.
  • Leading on a business-critical IT outsourcing for a well-known high street retailer and consumer brand.
  • Acting as EMEA counsel to one of the world’s biggest FMCG / coffee brands, including advising on matters relating to supply chain, logistics, and warehousing.
  • Extensive experience advising various clients in the video games industry, including negotiating development and publishing agreements, and advising on a wide range of commercial, data, and e-commerce matters. Highly experienced in advising independent video games studios on a broad range of matters relevant to the sector. Previously spent time working in-house at a major mobile games publisher.
  • Leading a digital transformation project for a FTSE 100 financial services company.
  • Leading a data protection compliance audit for one of the UK’s biggest energy companies.
  • Acting on a major telecoms project for a supplier of passive mobile and digital infrastructure.
  • Advising on collaborations between industry and academic institutions, involving the generation, use and exploitation of IP.
