About Andrew
Andrew is head of our Racing & Bloodstock Team and Oxford Residential Property Team.
His career has been shaped by his passion for all things horseracing, agriculture and rural which means he really understands the issues facing those working in these communities and has a great deal of experience in dealing with high value estates, agricultural and equestrian property transactions.
Andrew established his own niche bloodstock practice in 1999, and joined RWK Goodman as a partner in 2004.
Andrew’s knowledge in his chosen sectors is second to none, having been independently rated as a leader in the field by legal directories Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 for many, many years. He has appeared in a number of very high profile cases that have been widely reported in the national media. According to Chambers and Partners UK, who rank him as an individual, Andrew “knows horse racing inside out”, and “has excellent bloodstock experience”. “He knows his stuff and understands the industry, and it’s easy to do business with him.” (Chambers and Partners UK ) and commentators salute him as “a great quality regulatory lawyer” (Chambers and Partners UK ). Andrew has great experience in a broad range of work including:
- Agricultural and equestrian property transactions
- High-value estates negotiating regulatory and agricultural and business tenancy issues
- Sports disciplinary and licensing cases, including appearing before the Disciplinary Panel and Appeal Board of the British Horseracing Authority representing jockeys, trainers and owners
- Specialist commercial agreements, including sponsorship agreements under the Rules of Racing and ownership and syndications of racehorses and other bloodstock
