WITNESS APPEAL: Did you work at the Bank of England in Liverpool?

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Petersen died as a consequence of mesothelioma, an asbestos-related disease, in March 2016.

Lizzie worked at the Bank of England premises at 31 Castle Street, Liverpool, between 1957 and 1964.  We believe she may have been exposed to asbestos during that time and in particular when work was being carried out to the basement area, which involved the use of and disturbance of asbestos-containing products.

We believe that works have been carried out to the building over the years, including work to the basement and possibly the removal of the boiler/pipework from the basement.

We would be very interested in speaking to anyone who may have carried out work in this building.  We have seen a post on the Liverpool Echo’s website from a Mr Love, who made reference to there being asbestos in the basement.  We would be very interested in speaking to him.
