Tech Sector in London Mushrooming

According to recent figures, the sector currently employees in excess of half-a-million people, and accounts for almost a third of the employment growth within the capital; whilst it has also been suggested that investment within the sector is set to be boosted further, with a string of upcoming announcements.

However, whilst it is expected that investment within the technology and digital sector will grow further; additional figures recently published have suggested that start-ups in one of London’s most sought after locations were being "forced out", as a result of increasing rents.

According to the additional report, start-up businesses within the Silicon Roundabout area of London are being forced to move to new locations as a result of rents almost doubling over the last three years; with the figures suggesting that rent, within the area, is now nearly £34 per square metre, compared to just over £17 per square metre in 2011.
