RWK Goodman donates £103,000 to charity partners
Bake sales, dress-down days and charity walks were just some of the ways our staff and partners helped to raise funds while colleagues heavily supported a Winter Appeal which ran in December last year. Meanwhile, three of our staff - Jessica Burston, Ali Cloak and Fran Tremeer – joined the challenge trek to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in February 2020.
The money will be split equally between our four regional charity partners: Julian House (Bath), Crisis (London), Emmaus (Oxford) and Melanoma UK (Wiltshire).
At a virtual cheque presentation this week, representatives from the charities explained the significance of the contributions and how the money will make a difference. The event was attended by staff across our four main offices.
Solicitor Sophie Webb, who chairs our Charities group, said: “It’s been a particularly tough time for charities in the past year so we’re thrilled to donate the proceeds of our campaign. It was lovely for our people to hear from our charity partners first hand and find out more about the projects which are being funded. We were all really moved by the occasion.
“Our staff and partners vote for a charity to support in each of our regions every two years. It’s a brilliant opportunity to make a tangible difference, with a focus on raising money and doing something practical too. Our charity partners play an important role in the communities where we live and work so it means a lot to us to be able to support them.
“CSR is one of our firm’s core values. As part of that, we encourage everyone at our firm to take advantage of the two paid volunteering days that they are given every year to provide practical support to a charity of their choice. We also work firm-wide with Community Foundations across our regions to deliver grants from endowed funds.”
Last month, our firm selected its new charity partners for 2021-23, which will be Centrepoint (London), Trauma Breakthrough (Bath), Sobell House (Oxford) and Swindon Food Collective (Wiltshire).
