High Court throws out millionaire’s compensation claim against ex-wife

Elie Taktouk had alleged that, following his divorce from Daniella Semaan, his former partner had sold their flat in the exclusive suburb of Belgravia for significantly less than it was worth.

Spanish company Zirrintza SL, owned by Ms Semaan’s current boyfriend, the Premier League footballer Cesc Fabregas, had bought the property for £5.4million. The sale had previously been agreed by the Family Court.

But Mr Taktouk proposed that £7-10million was a far more realistic property price and claimed his ex-wife had failed to properly market their former residence.

Deputy High Court Judge Richard Snowden ruled that Mr Taktouk’s application had arisen from an acrimonious divorce and said it had “no real prospect of success.”

The Judge added that Mr Tartouk still owed Ms Semaan nearly £1million of a lump sum provided for  in a divorce order and legal costs of more than £500,000.
