Claim for mesothelioma for a builder of agricultural buildings settles within 5 months

Mr K was an 81 year old widower who had worked erecting agricultural buildings between 1948 and 1971. He was on holiday abroad when he became short of breath. He was quite poorly, and had to be airlifted home. Medical investigations showed he had fluid on his lungs, and a biopsy confirmed this was as a result of mesothelioma. His claim was settled for over £90k within 5 months of instructions – and within Mr K’s lifetime. He was really pleased with the speedy settlement and the amount he received.

Mesothelioma claims expert Helen Childs says, “As a widower with no dependants, it was vital to Mr K that his claim was pursued speedily. He wanted to be able to use any compensation to treat his family and friends while he was still well, and to purchase aids and appliances to help him cope with his increasing disability. It was particularly important the claim be settled within his lifetime or the compensation would have been much lower – probably only half as much.”
