Keeley Lengthorn nominated for Chambers UK Award for ESG Contribution
The head of RWK Goodman’s Public Law team in London has been nominated for a prestigious legal industry award for their community work and campaign to bring in bereavement leave for parents losing a baby under 24 weeks gestation.
Partner Keeley Lengthorn has been nominated for a 2025 Chambers and Partners UK Award for Outstanding Contribution in ESG, following a shortlisting process underpinned by industry research and client feedback.
She is one of three nominees for the award, which recognises private practice partners or counsel that have contributed to leading the way across various strands of ESG, with Keeley nominated for the award alongside Beth Marshall from Murgitroyd and Ravi Kaur Mahey from Cartwright King.
Since the passing of her son George who was born at 23 weeks gestation in March 2022 Keeley has spent the last three years tirelessly working on her George’s Law Campaign to advocate for the implementation of a policy which would allow parents who suffer a miscarriage before 24 weeks granted a right to bereavement leave.
Her campaigning for change came to volition on what would have been George’s 3rd birthday on 3 March 2025, when the Labour Government made an amendment to the Employment Rights Bill to allow two weeks leave for those who suffer a pregnancy loss before 24 weeks gestation.
Keeley said: “It’s an absolute honour to be shortlisted for this award as it highlights the achievements we’ve made pushing for this significant change for the better over the last three years. What has been achieved by George and this campaign has been nothing short of massive and I hope these changes spark a lasting impact.
“The following is on George’s Plaque in the crematorium and never has there been a truer word spoken – ‘There is no foot too small to leave an imprint on the word. Your footprint may be small George but your legacy is huge’.
“It’s also been a privilege being able to have the backing of RWK Goodman not just on pushing towards making policies like this a common-place occurrence, but in helping highlight the importance this can have on parents and their wellbeing.”
RWK Goodman offers two weeks paid leave for employees who experience a loss in the first 24 weeks of a pregnancy, recognising that this time off offers security and support to employees by acknowledging their loss as well as providing time for parents to grieve without the worry of returning to work.
The winners of the Chambers and Partners UK Awards will be announced at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on November 26.
