About Tricia
Tricia is a Partner who specialises in Court of Protection and Compensation Protection Trusts/Personal Injury Trusts.
Tricia has over 15 years of experience dealing with clients who lack the mental capacity to deal with their own property, financial affairs, and the complex issues and decisions that may be required following the decline of a person’s mental capacity.
Tricia specialises in managing compensation awards for clients who either have a Deputy appointed through the Court of Protection or whose award has been settled into a Compensation Protection Trust/Personal Injury Trust and is managed by Trustees.
Tricia works closely with her clinical negligence/personal injury colleagues and often becomes involved with the client and their family during the litigation process. During this period Tricia builds a close relationship with the client, and their family. She will assist with the set-up of a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, ensuring that the client’s quality of life is maximised whilst the claim in ongoing and following settlement.
Tricia deals with all aspects of managing Compensation awards
- Applications to the Court of Protection including Deputyship appointments, Statutory Wills, gift applications
- Advising on Compensation Protection Trusts/Personal Injury Trusts
- Liaising with Independent Financial Advisors to obtain advice on investing large awards
- Purchasing and adapting properties
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Liaising with Case Managers and therapists to create MDT’s for clients
Memberships
I have a particular interest in working with clients with an acquired brain injury or those suffering due to lack of capacity. This can involve applications to the Court of Protection with the appointment of a Professional Deputy to help administer funds to meet what can be very complex needs of the individual.
