Laura Coppack

Legal Assistant

About Laura

Laura joined Withy King in 2002 (before the merger with Royds in 2016), having previously worked at Lemon Line & Felton in Wiltshire in the Family and Criminal departments. Laura was a qualified Paralegal in Family Law, attended Court and sat behind Counsel on many criminal defence cases.  After joining Withy King, she became a legal assistant for the Personal Injury department, initially dealing primarily with brain injury cases and catastrophic claims.

Experience

Laura has worked successfully with Maggie Powell since 2004 primarily dealing with workplace accidents and serious road traffic accidents, assisting claimants with injuries such as amputations and paraplegia, in one significant case liaising with experts in groundbreaking technology to create a bionic arm.  Since 2014, Laura has been assisting Maggie with industrial disease cases and obtaining compensation for claimants suffering from mesothelioma, asbestosis, lung cancer and pleural thickening.

In her industrial disease cases, Laura has extensively researched the presence of asbestos in all sorts of locations, most notably making links between companies that no longer exist in order to expose concrete evidence of asbestos in claims that have been turned down by other firms specialising in these types of claims.

Interests

Outside of work, Laura is interested in social history, political science, comedy and watching snooker. She also enjoys listening to punk and heavy rock music.
