Lara Hourihan

Lara has extensive experience in acting for investors, developers, funders and operators in the care, later living, health and housing sectors.

She has acted on a wide range of transactions including complex land acquisitions, development agreements, contractual and corporate joint ventures, real estate finance (including development finance), large scale regeneration projects, portfolio sales and purchases, on the real estate aspects of corporate acquisitions and the establishment of operating platforms.

Lara’s particular focus is on the health and social care sector and her time with the in house legal team within a retirement living provider gives her a unique understanding of the sector and the issues relevant to those operating in it.

Lara supports her clients at all stages of the lifecycle of an asset. This includes on the development of new or the acquisition of existing (including distressed) assets, financing of the purchase and/or development, establishing structures for holding and the operation of the asset, preparing assets or a portfolio of them for sale or refinancing and the eventual disposal of assets (including failing assets or on an impending insolvency).

She has acted for all parties active in the health and social care sector including landowners, promoters, operators, investors, funders and the National Health Service. Lara frequently project manages transactions for clients, bringing in expertise from colleagues in the employment, planning, construction and corporate teams.

Extensive experience in development transactions.

Led the real estate aspects of a disposal of a portfolio of care homes on a TOGC basis.

Assisted on the sale of a portfolio of in excess of 3000 residential units.

Advised charity sector clients on all aspects of their property portfolio, including disposals, acquisitions and refinancing.
