Withy King raises almost £50k for charity

Withy King raises almost £50k for charity

Employees from across our network of offices chose to support Bath’s Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Headway Oxfordshire over the past two years, raising money through a variety of events and activities inside and outside of working hours.

These included office bake-offs and a charity ball as well as a ‘summer of sport’ which saw individuals and teams taking part in a number of running and cycling events as well as the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge.

Chris Kane, a partner in our Dispute Resolution team and Chair of the Charities’ Committee, said: “We are committed to making a positive impact on the communities we work in. We are delighted with what individuals and teams have managed to achieve over the last two years. I am immensely proud of the initiative they have shown in coming up with novel fund-raising ideas as well as the effort they have put into the activities themselves.”

Rebecca de la Bedoyere, Fundraising Manager at Wiltshire Air Ambulance said: “We are so thrilled by the amazing fundraising efforts of everyone at Withy King. They have worked incredibly hard; climbing mountains, baking cakes, even organising a fantastic ball, and what’s more they’ve been an absolute pleasure to work with. Their commitment and drive is evident in the phenomenal amount raised, and every penny is going to help us save lives across Wiltshire. It costs us £6,850 per day to run the service, and we are so grateful to all the individuals and businesses across the county who support us.”

Corporate Officer for The Forever Friends Appeal, Jo Common, said: “Big Ted and The Forever Friends Appeal have loved working so closely with the Withy King team over the past two years. The team have been so passionate about raising funds for our new Cancer Centre, that they have taken on a huge range of different fundraising challenges – from completing the Three Peaks Challenge, to running the Bath Half, joining our Walk of Life, holding a ‘Bake Off’ competition, plus many more! I would therefore like to take this opportunity to say a really heartfelt thank you to every single member of the Withy King team who has put so much time and effort into fundraising for our charity – we are so grateful to have had your support helping us to raise these vital funds towards a new Cancer Centre that will transform care for patients and their families here at the RUH.”

Jamie Miller, Chief Executive at Headway Oxfordshire, said: "Working with Withy King over the past two years has been a genuinely delightful experience. Withy King has raised a fantastic sum over this time but they have gone beyond fundraising in their support of Headway Oxfordshire in providing free legal advice, sponsoring and co-creating the “Survivors Guide to Brain Injury”, introducing us to new networking opportunities and generally being a supportive friend when we have been in need.

“We consider this to have been an exceptional partnership and have met a great many of the Withy King employees in the course of these two years, every one of whom has been tremendously positive about engaging with Headway Oxfordshire, always helpful, professional and a whole lot of fun to boot.”

Out of the total amount, Bath offices raised £18,428.83 for The Forever Friends Appeal, Swindon and Marlborough offices raised £20,347.11 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Oxford office raised £10,290.40 for Headway Oxfordshire.

Over the next two years, we will be supporting three new charities: Dorothy House Hospice in Bradford-on-Avon, Prospect Hospice in Swindon and Yellow Submarine in Oxford.
