Withy King gears up for the Bath to Paris charity cycle ride

A team of cycling enthusiasts from Withy King is preparing to cycle from their offices in central Bath to Paris to raise money for charity.

The team of 21 from across Withy King’s offices comprises Abi Sutcliffe, Calum Campbell, partner Chris Kane, Claire Fennell, Dave Eagle, David Lane, Ed Vidnes, Ali Cloak, partner Jessica Bent, Krista Hollinson, Laura Podger, Lydia Excell, partner Mark Emery, Mark Hambleton, Nick Martin, Nicola Cutler, Paul Field, Robert Webb, Tim Reid and two support drivers.

The 200 mile Bath to Paris cycle ride, which is taking place from 14 to 16 April, is one of several sporting events planned by Withy King to raise money for the firm’s three chosen charities; Dorothy House Hospice, Prospect Hospice and Yellow Submarine.

The team will be leaving Bath at the crack of dawn on Thursday 14 April to cycle the very hilly 90 miles to Portsmouth for an evening sailing to Le Havre.  From there they will head off bright and early on Friday morning for their second day of cycling to reach an overnight stop in Evreux, 69 miles away.  The third and final day will see the team taking on the last 59 miles aiming to reach Paris by mid afternoon on Saturday 16 April.

Chris Kane, partner in the Commercial Disputes Resolution team who is taking part in the cycle ride, explained: “Every two years, the staff and partners in each of our principal office locations vote for a local charity to support over a 24 month period. This gives us an opportunity to make a real difference, both in terms of the amount of money we are able to raise as well as the introductions we can make and other practical support we can offer. All our major fund-raising efforts this year and next will be in aid of charities which play such an important role in the lives of so many people local to our offices.”

The team have been training hard, taking part in organised sportives and getting out and about whenever possible.
