Withy King becomes the first to support giant bra tour

A giant hand-crocheted bra which was bought by a Swindon company to raise money for Against Breast Cancer, has gone on tour.

The mammoth pink bra, which has been on display at the Swindon headquarters of business communications and IT company Excalibur, is on the move – and its first stop is the central Swindon offices of law firm Withy King.

Greg Callard, a senior associate in the commercial property team at Withy King, said: “When we heard that the bra was on the move and that Excalibur were looking for businesses to give it a temporary home in exchange for a donation to Against Breast Cancer, we volunteered straight away. It’ll be a great talking point, bring a smile to people’s faces during the working day and raise money for this very worthy cause.”

Excalibur’s Chief Executive, James Phipps, placed the winning £560 bid on ebay to secure the bra, which is an impressive two metres high and over six metres long. It took four months to make, thanks to the hard work of Swindon’s Bitch and Stitch knitting group, who came up with the idea as a way of raising money for Against Breast Cancer.

“We’re sad to see the bra go but delighted that it has started its journey to raise a few eyebrows and even more cash for Against Breast Cancer,” commented James Phipps. “It’s certainly attracted a lot of attention in our window so it will be a great feature for Withy King, hopefully encouraging their visitors to get involved and provide added support!”

The bra was installed at Withy King’s offices on Friday 11 March and will be on show for several weeks.

The hunt is now on for other like-minded Swindon businesses willing to join the tour and hang up the bra in exchange for a charitable donation. Any businesses interested in getting involved should contact Sara Witham at Excalibur, by emailing [email protected]
