Withy King and Barclays pull off quiz with a difference

Withy King and Barclays have joined forces to organise a young professionals event in Bath.

The initiative is aimed at providing an opportunity for young people starting out their career in the city to network with business peers and form lasting business relationships in an informal setting.

The inaugural event, A Quiz with a Difference, was held at Green Park Brasserie and attracted more than 30 people drawn from a range of industries.

Opening the evening, Yvette Stader, head of sales support at Barclays, highlighted her own career and the importance of developing a network of like-minded professionals which had helped her along the way.

The organisers put a twist on the tried and tested quiz night formula when, rather than asking organisations to enter teams, they put individual professionals on teams at random. One of the attendees commented: “It was a great idea putting people with others so that they didn't necessarily already know their quiz team members. A novel and brilliant way to network with others and to have to work together!"

Organisers Ben Lees and James Worrall of Withy King, and Amy Grist and Lynn Metcalfe from Barclays were delighted with the success of the event.

Ben Lees said: "We will use this evening as a platform for future events and we hope to encourage more young professionals to attend and network with others working in Bath.

"This has to be good news for the dynamism and future of the business community in the city."

Plans are already under way to make the networking evening a regular event and it is hoped that the next one will be held next month (September).
