UK one of the best places in the world to start a business

An international survey recently confirmed that Britain had enjoyed a better economic performance than any of its immediate neighbours and the start-up costs are apparently the third lowest in the world.

Nathan Gamester, programme director of the Prosperity Index, said: “The UK is growing faster in the economy category than any other major EU country.

“The UK is among the most prosperous countries in the world, however, Britain's real success has been its recent economic transformation.”

A separate study by Barclays provided further evidence for why so many firms are starting to do business in the UK. According to the bank’s Entrepreneurs Index, companies are flourishing.

“The dip in the number of companies that are dissolving is testament to the growth in business confidence we have seen in recent years, allowing UK businesses not just to start up, but to succeed,” said Dena Brumpton, Barclays’ head of wealth management.

“These results are particularly encouraging as the business landscape in the UK is changing, with a relatively small number of small and medium sized enterprises (SME) delivering a significant impact on economic growth, employment and wealth creation.”
