As a people focused firm, we are committed to delivering the best outcomes and having a positive impact – for our colleagues, clients and communities. One of the ways we do this is through our long and proud history supporting local Community Foundations, who rely on donations from businesses and individuals to help improve local communities by providing grants to various projects.

With Quartet, our Bath based Community Foundation alone, we are proud to hold an annually increasing endowment fund worth over £110k, which is used to make grants to support local community initiatives, ensuring crucial funding gets to where it is needed most.

Throughout 2022 and 2023, our grant fund was used to support Southside Family Project’s Crisis Fund. Southside aims to ensure that individuals and families living in Bath and Northeast Somerset facing difficulties such as domestic abuse, substance abuse, mental health, or problems with finance and debt, housing, or concerns related to education and employment, get the care and support they need. Southside’s Crisis Fund in particular, was created to support local families with emergency supplies or resources in crisis situations, where there are no other sources of support available.

Our partnership with Southside also extends beyond fundraising, recognising the difference our specialist lawyers can have in our local communities. Helping to develop our relationship with Southside further is Katherine Lauder, Partner and Head of the Bath Children and Domestic Abuse Team, who has been working closely with Southside since joining as a Trainee Solicitor.

Katherine Lauder comments:

“Over the last few years, many firms across the country have stopped undertaking domestic abuse and private children legal aid work. As our Bath Children and Domestic Abuse team has grown, so has our ability to support more victims of domestic abuse, through both privately and publicly funded services. We are passionate about supporting and protecting victims of domestic abuse and pride ourselves on our outstanding legal advice and service, both in urgent and non-urgent circumstances. We remain committed to making a positive impact in our local community by providing legal support and advice to individuals who are often extremely vulnerable and in need of urgent help. We have also enjoyed delivering training to the team at Southside on several occasions over past years.”
