Supporting our charity partners

We are on the Mesothelioma UK Legal Panel again!

RWK Goodman has been a member of the Mesothelioma UK Legal Panel since it was established in April 2020 and this year we are pleased to announce that we have been reappointed to the panel for another two years.

Mesothelioma UK is a specialist resource centre and provides information, support and education. It is dedicated to improving care and treatment for all mesothelioma patients in the UK and support for their carers.

The Mesothelioma and Asbestos team at RWK Goodman is delighted to have been re-appointed to Mesothelioma UK’s panel of specialist lawyers and looks forward to continuing to work closely with the charity to support individuals who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma and their families.

It is so important that people affected by mesothelioma seek specialist legal and medical advice to enable them to access bespoke medical treatment and financial support.

Proud to have joined the SWASAG Legal Panel

The South-West Asbestos Support & Awareness Group (SWASAG) is dedicated to helping people living with asbestos-related illnesses across the South West of England.

The group’s aim is to provide help and support to people who have been diagnosed with an asbestos-related disease, which includes hosting monthly support groups in Truro and Plymouth.

We are honoured to have been asked to join SWASAG’s legal panel and look forward to supporting the charity by providing expert legal advice on potential asbestos disease claims to its members.

RWK Goodman takes on Mesothelioma UK’s “20 for 20” Challenge!

November 2021 saw the Mesothelioma and Asbestos Team at RWK Goodman take part in the “20 for 20” challenge in support of Meso UK.

Our activities included a variety of jumping, running, swimming and dancing and met with a great reception on social media. Take a look at some of our exploits!

Lauren Ruxton did three challenges, including 20 minutes of dancing and even making 20 sausage rolls (tasty!).

Nadia Toor did 20 minutes of skipping and Claire Kerby climbed 20 hills!

Sarah Wolf, one of our Partners, even got her dog involved in some canine yoga!

We are delighted to continue supporting Mesothelioma UK in raising awareness of mesothelioma and the devastating impact it has on peoples’ lives.

Vintage Poster Competition - The Results!

In October 2020, our team held a vintage poster competition to fundraise for Mesothelioma UK, HASAG and The Mavis Nye Foundation.

18 entries were received in total and judged during a virtual Zoom party.  The standard of entries was very high, making for a difficult decision!  Although all deserving, prizes were awarded for the ‘most realistic’ and ‘most artistic’ entries and the winners were:

Most Realistic: Helen’s recreation of a spitfire poster, using a photograph of the NHS Spitfire.

Most Artistic: Jennifer’s recreation of the iconic Women’s Land Army poster.

Muffins for Meso

The team took part in the annual Muffins for Meso fundraiser in 2021.  The theme was animals with the letter ‘M’ and the team put a twist on the event by creating their own bakes and mocktails!

Mesowarrior Mavis Nye joined us via Zoom to judge the entries.  There were a number of great entries, but the winners were Jemima Ware and Helen Childs.

Jemima’s ‘Mini-Daxi’ cupcakes won the baking category and Helen was victorious in the mocktail category.

This year, it was great to meet face to face to catch up and share our baked treats. Rachel Hicks was crowned winner this year with her Meso UK bake.

Mesothelioma UK Ladies Lunch 2022

This year we finally saw the return of in-person events following the pandemic.  To coincide with International Women’s Day, Mesothelioma UK hosted a Ladies’ Lunch on International Womens Day on Tuesday 8 March.

Helen, Jen, Rachel, Sarah and Michael attended the lunch. The team took a selfie board and collected entries for the best selfie.

Congratulations to the SWASAG team on their winning entry!

Michael and Laura are half marathoning for meso!

Michael Wolstencroft, Senior Associate in our team, ran the Manchester Half Marathon on 22 May 2022 in support of the Greater Manchester Victims Support Group. To date, Michael has raised £460. Well done Michael!

Laura Wilkinson, another Senior Associate in our team, will be running the Bristol Half Marathon. This is taking place on 25th September 2022. Keep up the good training Laura!
