RWK Goodman advises Football Club on purchase of stadium
RWK Goodman has advised Swindon Town Football Club on the purchase of the County Ground stadium for £2.3million.
Real Estate Solicitor Greg Callard worked with the joint venture company (comprised of the Nigel Eady Trust and the supporters' trust) to complete the purchase from Swindon Borough Council. The County Ground has been the home of Swindon Town since 1896.
RWK Goodman negotiated the contract and transfer deed on behalf of the buyers in a deal that has been many years in the making. The purchase signifies the first time the stadium has changed ownership, with the unique model ensuring its legacy for future generations of supporters.
Robert Angus, CEO of Swindon Town Football Club, said: "We at STFC would like to put on record our thanks for all the support from RWK Goodman - and in particular their Partner Greg Callard - for all his excellent advice and guidance in helping us secure the County Ground for the club and supporters which is a unique and historic moment for our football club. The excellent advice received over many years provided to the club and supporters shows just how much RWK Goodman cares about its local communities."
Greg Callard, Partner at RWK Goodman, said: "This was a project I was hugely proud to be involved with for a number of years to assist the Supporters Trust and the Football Club itself in taking this incredibly unique step of owning the ground on a joint venture basis to assist in securing the future of the football club, and ultimately assisting with progress off of the field. The team involved worked tirelessly from all sides to achieve this outcome."
