RWK Goodman raises over £67,700 for charity

We are proud to announce that we have raised £67,705.53 for our charities of choice over the last two years.

Dorothy House Hospice Care in Bath, Prospect Hospice in Swindon and Yellow Submarine in Oxford are the three beneficiaries of our firm’s fund-raising activities in 2015-17, as voted for by lawyers and support staff.

Our fundraising activities included various sponsored sporting events, including a cycle ride from Bath to Paris and two Bath half marathons, an auction of promises, monthly dress down days, raffles and a Bake Off competition. We also provided volunteer led, in-kind support for events and initiatives run by the three charities.

Senior associate Greg Callard, who is Chair of our dedicated charities group, said: “Our association with our three chosen charities has been a highly enjoyable and memorable one – not least of all because we know that our efforts will directly benefit such worthwhile causes. We have learnt a lot about the charities themselves as well as the local communities we all serve and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their collective fundraising efforts and to wish these three charities all the very best as they continue their important work which benefits so many.”

Henrietta Beard, corporate fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: “We are immensely grateful for the support from the dynamic team at RWK Goodman. In the last two years, they have donated a truly impressive sum which will be a substantial help to the Hospice and our patients. Everyone at RWK Goodman has been a delight to work with throughout our two year collaboration. I think they must have the most enthusiastic and fittest staff in Bath after doing the Bath half marathon twice and cycling to Paris to name just a few of their many sporting endeavours in aid of Dorothy House! We look forward to working together again in the future.”

Genevieve Arney, events and community manager at Prospect Hospice, said: “RWK Goodman have been long standing supporters of the hospice, taking part in our Make a Will Month for several years and one of the firm’s private client solicitors, Mandy Casavant, is a Trustee. Over the last two years, staff from RWK Goodman have organised a wide range of activities to raise money for the hospice and it’s amazing to see how it all adds up. We’ve also been able to come along to events run by RWK Goodman to talk to clients and staff about the hospice and the services we provide in their local community, as it’s so important that we raise awareness of the care we provide and who can access it.”

Kate Sankey, co-director at Yellow Submarine, said: “As a small, local charity we were thrilled to be chosen as one of RWK Goodman’s charity partners back in 2015; their support over the past two years has been wonderful, from their numerous fundraising events and challenges, volunteering at our activities and helping us to organise events to joining us to help decorate our café and office – their commitment has been fantastic! A highlight for a couple of our members will always be when they were given the chance to be judges at the RWK Goodman Bake Off. The amount raised by the team is just amazing and will enable us to support more young people with learning disabilities to live their lives to the full!”

The charities chosen by lawyers and staff at our firm's offices in Bath, Swindon and Marlborough, Oxford, and London for the next two years, 2017-2019, are Bath Mind, Doing it for Dan in Swindon, SeeSaw in Oxford, and London Mind (in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest).
