Oxford lawyers scoop Law Society awards

Two lawyers from RWK Goodman in Oxford have come out on top at the prestigious Berks, Bucks and Oxfordshire Law Society Awards 2018.

Jennifer Sampson, a lawyer in the Corporate team at RWK Goodman, was named Junior Lawyer of the Year, while Edward Pilling, a consultant in the firm’s Residential Property team, won the President’s Award.

Iain Butler, partner in the Corporate team in Oxford, said: “We are extremely proud of Jenni’s achievement in the face of competition from a raft of talented up and coming lawyers. Since joining the firm in 2016, Jenni has provided exceptional client service, working on a number of high profile transactions, including advising Oxford Genetics on the terms of a £7.5m investment agreement with Mercia Technologies PLC and Invesco Perpetual, which enabled the company to continue its cell and gene therapy innovation, fund a new office in Boston and extend its UK facilities. Jenni is a real asset to our expanding Corporate team in Oxford and no doubt has an exciting career ahead of her.”

Edward Pilling, whose Headington-based firm Edward Pilling & Co was acquired by RWK Goodman in 2014, was recognised for his contributions to the legal and property profession as well as numerous home owners in a career spanning more than three decades.

Simon Bassett, lead partner in the Oxford office at RWK Goodman, said: “It’s a privilege to work with Edward and it’s fantastic that his many achievements have been acknowledged through this special award. Edward is one of the most experienced property lawyers in practice today and well respected by colleagues, clients and the wider profession.”

The Berks, Bucks and Oxfordshire Law Society Awards ceremony was held at the Spires Hotel in Oxford, attracting nominations in six categories.
