National Inclusion Week – intern update
As part of our National Inclusion Week celebrations, let’s take a look at some updates from the interns who joined us as part of the 10,000 Black Interns Programme, which seeks to offer internships every year, across a range of industries, to improve workplace representation in the UK and help to remove barriers to entry.
I had a wonderful 6-week Internship with RWK Goodman as a legal intern with their Real Estate Team in London, getting the opportunity to gain insight into how the practice area operates and deepen my understanding of Real Estate law within an immeasurably helpful and supportive environment. As I prepare for the next step in my legal career, I will continually reflect on this experience as one that helped build me for what’s to come. My opportunity at the firm was facilitated by 10,000 Black Interns, without whom this would not have been possible. I am very appreciative of the work that they do and continue to do to support aspiring black professionals.
During the internship, I sat in the Employment team in London for six weeks, which helped me sharpen my legal practice skills as well as building my commercial awareness. The internship gave me a great taste of what a career in Law holds and provided me with a reassurance that this career is for me, as well as plenty of experience that I will take forward into my future training contract. I think the initiative is important because it not only promotes inclusion in the early career space, but also provided a unique diversity scheme to directly support aspiring black professionals. I commend employers like RWK Goodman for participating and supporting diversity and inclusion in every aspect of their business.
We are pleased to have signed up to the 10,000 Black Interns programme for the next 5 years, helping to create a more inclusive and diverse legal sector. Thank you to our wonderful interns who joined us and all our colleagues for supporting this fantastic Programme.
