Plans to expand Grove Business Park given the green light
Plans to expand a major Oxfordshire business park have been given the green light in a move which is set to bring hundreds of new jobs to the area.
Vale of White Horse District Council’s planning committee has approved plans to develop 220,000 sq ft of business space at Grove Business Park in Wantage.
The scheme is set to breathe new life into the park and many old buildings have already been demolished to make way for new state-of-the art premises. Work is also due to start immediately on more than 20 business units which are being built speculatively.
Richard Lyall, FRICS, of Grove Business Park, said: “We are looking forward to working with both local and national businesses to create a bespoke facility to suit their needs.”
Julie Acock, senior associate in the Commercial Property team at Oxford law firm RWK Goodman, which acts for Grove Business Park, added: “This is an exciting opportunity for the park as it looks to increase its size, attracting high quality technology and life sciences companies to the area, further boosting the local economy and jobs. Grove Business Park is set in 32 acres of land, and offers a range of existing office, laboratory, warehousing and storage spaces as well as new build opportunities. It is also part of Science Vale UK, a global hot spot for enterprise and innovation in science, high technology and the application of knowledge.
David Williams, Partner from Bidwells, agents for the park, said: “It is not overstating the point that the hundreds, if not 1,000s plus, of new jobs which will be created on the park, will secure the future economic growth of the Wantage area, alongside the new housing being built.”

The owners, Grove Business Park Ltd, bought the site just under a year ago, and have already refurbished and let 10,000 sq ft of grade A office space to growing high-quality IT and Biotech companies.
Work is also underway on the multi-million-pound refurbishment of Boston House Business Centre which will create a five-star fully-served office facility on short-term easy-in, easy-out licences. The centre is due to complete in April 2017 and when finished will be an innovative work-space for 280 workers.
The owners are also in discussions with a professional national nursery operator which could open an 80-place nursery and crèche on site.
