Further expansion for our private client team

Solicitor Lisa McBrearty and trust manager Nick Martin have joined our private client team in Oxford, making it the largest in the city.

Lisa brings almost a decade of experience in helping individuals and their families deal with a wide range of issues, including Wills and estate planning, inheritance tax, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection applications, probate and the administration of estates.

Commenting on her new role, Lisa said: “My work as a private client solicitor is always extremely rewarding. I enjoy advising clients on making and updating their Wills to ensure their assets are passed on in accordance with their wishes, and in the most tax-efficient way.

“Assisting bereaved clients can be challenging but I am in the privileged position of being able to remove some of the burden by dealing with financial matters on their behalf during what is often a very stressful and emotional time in their lives.”

Before joining us, Lisa worked for Hines solicitors in Buckinghamshire.

Nick Martin is a tax and trust manager who has acquired substantial experience working in tax and general commercial law. His expertise includes advising and providing assistance to trusts, trustees and beneficiaries, dealing with trust management as well as a wide range of tax issues, including stamp taxes and trust accounts. He joins us from City accountancy firm, BDO.

Our private client team in Oxford is led by partner Tom Gilman. In addition to a number of key hires in 2013, the team was further strengthened last month by the acquisition of Wheatley-based law firm, Whetter Duckworth Fowler which has an excellent reputation for its private client and property work.
