Case Study Report: A v Western Hospitals HNS Foundation Trust (2023)
Our client, A (aged 21 at the time of settlement), received £1,000,000. This followed the failure to follow the accepted procedure for the management of shoulder dystocia. As a consequence of this, A now has a brachial plexus injury and a condition called Erb’s Palsy. A now requires ongoing physiotherapy for the remainder of her life to avoid stiffness occurring in her involved left shoulder, as well as special equipment to assist her with day-to-day activities and psychological input to help with those aspects of her ongoing injury.
The case was handled by Paul Rumley, a Partner at this firm, assisted by Joachim Stanley, Julia Price, Stephanie Sanderson and Sarah White.
