We are delighted to invite you to our next Professionals in Brain Injury event, where we will hear from Dr Mohamed Sakel, Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine. The event will be held at our Bath office.
Dr Sakel was recently appointed as the Medical Director and Consultant Physician for the Frenchay Brain injury Rehabilitation Unit in Bristol. He has a distinguished career of 30 years of NHS service, previously working at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit at Leamington Spa Hospital, and founder and Director of the Neurorehabilitation Service for East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Sakel will be speaking about his PhD epidemiology research in Kent and Medway on the long-term health impacts of surviving a moderate to severe Traumatic Brain Injury. This will include:
- launch of Kent and Medway Brain and Spinal cord Initiative in House of Commons in 2018;
- co-creating system wide improvement for survivors of brain injury;
- incidence and prevalence estimates;
- a gap in the national trauma care pathway;
- consensus on resource deemed of most potential value for future co-design.
