About Ellie

Ellie is an experienced commercial litigator, with a particular focus on complex civil fraud cases.

She has advised both claimants and defendants in a wide range of disputes involving allegations of fraud, including cases involving worldwide freezing orders and other interim remedies, claims for fraudulent breach of directors’ duties, asset recovery, authorised push payment fraud and a variety of company disputes.

Her cases to date have been both national and multi-jurisdictional across a variety of industry sectors, including the technology, retail and hospitality sectors. Ellie adopts a pragmatic approach to disputes and aims to provide clear and constructive advice to guide clients through to the best possible commercial resolution.

Ellie is fluent in French, having started her legal career in the Paris office of Hogan Lovells.  She regularly advises French clients in relation to disputes in the UK and sits on RWK Goodman’s French desk.

Experience

  • Acting for a Claimant in respect of a major internal PPE fraud worth approximately €40 million, including obtaining the granting of a freezing injunction in the English High Court. This included multiple jurisdictional issues and a large number of interim applications.
  • Defending a claim for fraudulent breach of directors’ duties, involving allegations of diversion of a commercial opportunity.
  • Acting for a Defendant in respect of alleged secret commission claims amount to over £10 million (including Summary Judgment applications).
  • Securing the return of monies to the overseas victim of authorised push payment fraud, involving a claim under POCA.
  • Successfully striking out and securing the dismissal of very substantial claims by a liquidator against former directors, including wrongful trading (Johnson v Arden & Others Re Strobe 2 (in liquidation)).
